Jazz ensemble performance: How did my jazz ensemble performance go?
Today is the day where we are going to do the ensemble performance. Before we did the assessment we had 6 minutes practice for each group. After that we did the assessment and my group done it well including me. I play the whole song perfectly without making any mistakes and the tempo during the assessment was stabile .
Practical:
Today we don't have practical class since today is the last meeting for music and because today is our assessment day. I am very happy with what I had done so far in music class and I am satisfied with the result that I got.

Week 7: May 21-25
Music Jingle: What do I think about my jingle?
Theory: This week we have to submit our jingle that I did with sarah. I think my jingle is good because both of the video and the song is matching. Besides I think the song that I made is really good and Mr Herry said so. But in the next assessment I will work harder so that I can produce a better result or product.

Practical:After we submit our jingle and we got feedback from our friends we go to our supervisor to prepare for the jazz ensemble. After that we go back to our group(theory) and my group is the 1st group that are going to perform

Week 5 Video:
On the video above I did the practice for my jazz ensemble. But on the video above I only did the practice until bar 10 and I am still playing the chords. Even though I play it well but I need to do more practice so that I can play the whole song by next week.
Week 6:
On the video above I did the practice for my jazz ensemble song for next week. Finally I can play the whole song but I still need to do more practice to keep my tempo stabile so that I can follow my other friends.

Singing Assessment (how did my singing assessment go?)
Theory: this week we did both rehearsal and the singing assessment. During the rehearsal we were given time with our group to practice and after that we have to perform in front of the class. During the assessment everything went well but I want to improve my pitch so that I can reach the correct and definite pitch.
Practical:
This week we don't have any instrument class because we use both of the session to prepare and do the singing assessment and we also got some explanation about jingle commercial song. the theme is "Beautiful Indonesia".
Week 6: 15-19 Mei 2012
Jazz Ensemble (how was my ensemble group progress?)
Theory: This week we were given a task by Mr Herry which is we have to play a jazz song from the booklet and we were separated into 4 groups. Me and my group we play Autumn Leaves and so far I already have a progression. I can play until bar 10 and in the group ensemble me as the piano student will be the bass.
Practical:
After we were separated in a group we went to instrument class. Mr Herry thought me how to play the chords. After that we were given time with our group and my supervisor is Mr Harry Wisnu, flute or saxophone teacher.

Week 2: April 16- 20
Music Notation Test (What are the functions of music in society?)
Theory:This week we were prepared for the upcoming music notation test that we will have tomorrow. The topic is minor 7th, major 7th and dominant 7th chords. the test is very hard none of us finished the test.From this week lesson I realized that functions of music in the society is very big. We can use music to entertain people, to communicate, for medications and so on.
Practical: This week during the instrument class we have to play the song that we choose. We have to play 8 bar from the song and it it quite challenging because the chords in my song is quite complicated and because I am not used to read jazz or pop chords.
Week 3: 23 -27 April
Group Slide Presentation ( How have development in technology changed the ways in which we engage with music?)
Theory: This week there is a group slide presentation assessment and for the first meeting we were given time to meet our group and discuss about the assessment. From the presentation now I understood that music can be used for a lot of things. Now trough music we can heal autism, we can improve our brain function and there is a lot of things that can be dome by music.
Practical: This week we dont have practical class because this week we used the whole meeting for group slide presentation. We only watch some performances from guitar students and we listen to the presentation.
Week 4: April 30-May 4
Singing assessment Preparation (how does business and industry affect music makers and users?)
Theory: as we know music industry is one of the biggest industries in the world today. They selling music composition, recording, and music performance (concert). People who work in music Industries become one of the richest people in the world. This week we also prepared for our music singing assessment and we will do it next week.
Practical: This week we revise for the music notation test. Besides that we also prepare for our singing assessment nest week. We were group in 4 and we were dived into different voice. So this week we didnt have any instrument class.

Theory: This week is the first meeting for music class in term 4 and Mr herry gave us an introduction about the topics that we are going to learn in term 4. Music has a big impact in our life because everyday we listen to music and I realized that music can help me to change my mood and feeling and sometimes music make our become a better day.

Explain the roles of jazz blues in the early development of jazz!
Practical: Jazz Blues is one of the prominent roots of early jazz. Because of this the role of jazz blues is very important in the development of jazz since African-American derived spiritual blues chants and use it into their jazz creations. This is the music that can used to express our blue feeling.
12-Bars Blues Practice: Today we used most of the time to practice our own composition and by the end we were group into 2 and we play together (like an ensemble) and besides that we also perform in front of the class. But I also have to practice at home to improve the rhythm and the tempo of my song.

How is my understanding now about improvisation especially in blues?
Practical: After we learn about blues jazz for about 1,5 month now I have a better understanding about blues jazz and now we even know how to improvised and for me it is quite challenging but as the week go now I have a better understanding on how to improvised my blues jazz song.
12 Bars Blues Improvisation
This week we learn 2 things in class. In the first meeting we learn about walking bass and it is very interesting. In the second meeting we rehears for our 12 bars blues composition and all of us done it very well and we only need to do more practice.

How Does my understanding of blues after my performance?
Theory: After my performance now I can reflect that I have to put more attention when I play and I need to put more focus so that I can play all the song smoothly and perfectly. And after I perform now I understand that the feeling that we had when we play blues and classic is different and the technique that we used is totally different from classic music.
Practical: This week we practice the 12 Bars Blues Composition with our group and we have done it well and for the second meeting we used the whole music session for our 12 Bars Blues Composition practical assessment and I have done it well.

Week 6:
February 20-24: Submission of 12 Bars Blues Composition (did you find any challenges writing on 12-bars blues?)
We were given a task to write our draft of 12 bars blues in finale. After I submit Mr. Herry give me his feedback and the next day we have to submit the final work so the night before I did the correction base on the feedback. I think this task is quite challenging because this is the first time I learned about jazz music but for me it is fun.
Practical: 12 Bars Blues Composition
This week we have to submit our final work of our composition and we have to do it in finale. In practical class we play our composition and Mr.Herry gave us his feedback about our song and he told us to revise it at home and do more practice.
Week 7:
Febuary 27-March 2: 12 Bars Blues Practice (How do I practice and apply my 12 bars blues at home?)
After I submit my final work of the 12 Bars Blues and it was accepted I do some practice at home twice a week. Through this task it help me to get more practice about the jazz chord and from this task I gain more interest to jazz and from this task I gain more knowledge about chords.

16-20 January 2012: Introduction to Jazz
Today was the first meeting for music class after the holiday. Today Mr Herry introduced the topic that we are going to learned in term 3. In term 3 we are going to learned jazz. After Mr Herry explain to us about the topic we were group in 5 and we write the things that we know about jazz and I know most of it from Mr Herry explanation about the jazz music.
Practical: Chords
Today we got the All of Me chords and in instrument class we discuss the sign that we found in the sheet and we also wrote down the notes for each chords to make us easier when we play and when we learn. next week we will start with the A pattern so our homework is to learn the A part of the song.
Week 2:
January 30- February 3: Roots of Jazz
Today during the theory class we discuss about the chords All of Me song since we already discuss it last week during the instrument class I don't face any difficulties anymore. I can follow and understand the lesson. And because we discuss it twice so I think I understand the lesson very well and there is a big progress on learning the roots of jazz.
Practical: All of Me- Chords
Today we start to play the All of Me song part A and B. At first we only play the right hand but the next meeting we play the A and B part with the left hand (accompaniment). The homework for next week is we have to learned the C part and we were expected to play the whole song b next week.

January 23-27: Essay on the Beginning of Jazz (How did I do my essay an how did it affect me when learning and applying jazz?)
Today we got a task from Mr Herry to made 200 words essay about the beginning of jazz. After I made my essay and I have done it I think it help me a lot because when I did my essay I have to do some research and from that I gained more knowledge and information about jazz.
Practical: All of Me - Melody
Today we play the whole All of Me song with right and left hand. After we done it Mr Herry gave us the melody for All of Me song. We try it and after that we have to play it with our friend and I play the chords while Sarah play the melody and through practical class I can apply the things that I have learn.
